BBC soap opera EastEnders will get its first ever lesbian Muslim character next month.
The hugely popular British soap opera features new arrival Iqra Ahmed (played by Priya Davdra), who will reveal her sexuality.
Viewers know she’s hiding a secret, but they don’t know what.
When Adam Bateman (Stephen Rahman-Hughes) spies a text message on Iqra’s phone, he finds out it’s about her sexuality and he tries to blackmail her.
Iqra made her first appearance on the show in February this year, alongside her sister Habiba (Rukku Nahar).
They tricked their uncle Masood into leaving his half of the family restaurant to them while he went away to Australia.
Coronation Street kills of gay Muslim character
Earlier this year, Coronation Street killed off lesbian Muslim character Rana Habeeb, played by Bhavna Limbachia. She died on her wedding day, after being caught up in the Underworld roof collapse.
She was marrying Kate Connor after a tumultuous relationship.
On one occasion, Kate was so desperate for a baby, she cheated on her then fiancée Rana to try to get one.
Kate tried to seduce Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and claimed to like men as well as women. Kate lied to Adam and said: ‘Nobody’s interested in labels these days are they?’
The pair kiss, but Kate couldn’t hide her distaste for men. Adam quickly realized what she was up to and stopped it in its tracks.
Fans weren’t happy about the portrayal of the lesbian character and said the storyline ‘invalidates’ her longstanding sexuality.
